Becoming a Prayer Warrior

I am sending this sermon to you in a crisp manner but please take good time to read it. Read it like enjoying a cup of coffee sip by sip don rush through, if you are not free right now, take your time and read when You can :)

OCTOBER 6- 2013: Becoming a Prayer Warrior
 

An Overview:

• Learning to Pray alone with God
• Pray for the Church
• Pray for the Nation

Learning to Pray:

1. Jesus gave his first hour of the day to pray and spend time with his heavenly father, take time; it’s like a tithe you give. A tithe of time. Withholding tithe is like robbing from the father who gave it to you.

2. So how should you pray?

 Ezekiel 3:24 Then the Spirit of the Lord came into me. He raised me to my feet. He said to me, “Go, son of man. Shut yourself inside your house.

Matthew 6:6 when you pray, go into your room. Close the door and pray to your Father, who can’t be seen. He will reward you. Your Father sees what is done secretly

Close the door; don't let anything or anyone disturb you when you are with your father.

3. What happens when you pray like that?

Ezekiel 3:22 the strong hand of the Lord was on me. He said, “Get up. Go out to the flatlands. I will speak to you there.”

Ezekiel 8:1 It was the sixth year since King Jehoiachin had been brought to Babylon as a prisoner. On the fifth day of the sixth month, I was sitting in my house. The elders of Judah were sitting there with me. The Lord and King put his powerful hand on me there.

Don't expect some great pastor or preacher to place their hand on you for a miracle, God touches you with his powerful hand when you pray to him earnestly. Expect God's hand not a human's hand.

Ezekiel 3:23 So I got up and went out to the flatlands. The glory of the Lord was standing there. It was just like the glory I had seen by the Kebar River. So I fell with my face toward the ground.

Ezekiel 3:26- I will make your tongue stick to the roof of your mouth. Then you will be silent. You will not be able to correct them. They always refuse to obey me.

Don't keep talking to God about all your problems when you pray, Jesus says do not pray like how ungodly people does, they pretend. Be quiet allow God to talk too.

Ezekiel 3:27 But later I will speak to you. I will open your mouth. Then you will tell them, ‘Here is what the Lord and King says.’ Those who listen will listen. And those who refuse to listen will refuse. They always refuse to obey me.

A sum up of how you should learn to pray:

1. Wait upon the Lord. Close door concentrate on heavenly things, forget the world and wait.

2. You must be quiet before God

3. Be patient before God until he speaks to you

4. Listen to god's when he speaks to you

Spend at least one hour every day to your heavenly father. That one hour of your day will be the most useful and peaceful moment.

Praying for the Church and as a Church

Here Jerusalem is the Church.

Here God says how he wants the church to be, Pray for everything God points out, since you are a church, clean yourself and pray for a transformation. Read to know what happens when Church transforms.

Isaiah 62

1. The Lord says, “For the good of Zion I will not keep silent. For Jerusalem’s benefit I will not remain quiet. I will not keep silent until its people’s godliness shines like the sunrise, I will not remain quiet until they are saved and shine like a blazing torch.

² Jerusalem, the nations will see that I have made everything right for you. All of their kings will see your glory. You will be called by a new name. I myself will give it to you.
 

³ You will be like a glorious crown in my strong hand. You will be like a royal crown in my powerful hand.
 

⁴ People will not call you Deserted anymore. They will no longer name your land Empty. Instead, you will be called The One the Lord Delights In. Your land will be named The Married One. I will take delight in you. And your land will be like a bride.
 

 ⁵ As a young man gets married to a young woman, your people will marry you. As a groom 

is happy with his bride, I will be full of joy over you.”

How should you pray for the Church?

⁶ Jerusalem, I have stationed guards on your walls. They must never be silent day or night. You who call out to the Lord must not give yourselves any rest.
 

⁷ And don’t give him any rest until he makes Jerusalem secure. Don’t give him any peace until people all over the earth praise that city.

Praying for the Nation:

God wants to destroy the Nations because he wants to cleanse it. His wrath has fallen on every evil nation. Doesn't this city which Ezekiel talks about sounds more like our country?

Ezekiel 22:3 Tell them, ‘The Lord and King says, “Your city brings death on itself. You spill blood inside its walls. You pollute yourselves by making statues of gods.

Ezekiel 22:24 Son of man, speak to the land. Tell it, ‘You have not had any rain or showers. That is because I am angry with you.’

Since God is angry, he is going to destroy it anyway, then why should we pray? Because God also says,

Ezekiel 22:30 I looked for a man among them who would stand up for Jerusalem. I tried to find someone who would pray to me for the land. Then I would not have to destroy it. But I could not find anyone who would pray for it.

Now that you have learned a lot from the word of God, learn to put it into action, 

James 1:22-25

Don’t just listen to the word. You fool yourselves if you do that. You must do what it says. Suppose you listen to the word but don’t do what it says. Then you are like a man who looks at his face in a mirror. After looking at himself, he leaves. Right away he forgets what he looks like.  But suppose you take a good look at the perfect law that gives freedom. You keep looking at it. You don’t forget what you’ve heard, but you do what the law says. Then you will be blessed in what you do.

OH WHAT FAITH!!

^{Hebrews 10:19-23}

¹⁹ Brothers and sisters, we are not afraid to enter the Most Holy Room. We enter boldly because of the blood of Jesus.  

²⁰ His way is new because he lives. It has been opened for us through the curtain. I’m talking about his body.

²¹ We also have a great priest over the house of God. 

 ²² So let us come near to God with an honest and true heart. Let us come near with a faith that is sure and strong. Our hearts have been sprinkled. Our minds have been cleansed from a sense of guilt. Our bodies have been washed with pure water.

²³ Let us hold firmly to the hope we claim to have. The One who promised is faithful.

What a loving Father we have got (^-^) Happy Morning Friends (^-^)

HOW BAD IS IT??

How bad is your problem? over your head so you cannot solve? ah!! nothing to worry, keep reading problems are gonna melt away like ice.

1.Stay Calm : where's your faith? never let go of your faith and be like the disciples when a storm came, stay close to God.

Luke 8:24

²⁴ The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”

He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.

 2.Clear your Conscience: Look at the demon possessed man after he was healed, he sat with Jesus, dressed and was in his right mind. Calm down, sit with Jesus, walk with him and listen to his words.

Luke 8:35

³⁵ and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.

 3.Touch of Faith: The woman who was bleeding for 12 long years touched a tip of Jesus cloak and she was healed, how is our faith compared to hers? Is there any problem he cannot solve?

Luke 8:46

⁴⁶ But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”

 4. Do not Fear, Your Faith will heal you: Our God does not give us a Spirit of Fear, Believe completely and stop worrying.

Luke 8:50

⁵⁰ Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”

 Is there any other book than our Bible or anyone else than our Jesus who can comfort you more? He already promised you in the following verse, He's going to give you rest on all corners of your life.

Matthew 11:28

²⁸ “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Carry his Yoke and Enjoy your Life 

Matthew 11:30

³⁰ For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Prayer:

Thank you Lord for your amazing words to me, i am in awe of you. Heal my heart and dress my broken wing, help me soar in you more and more. Lead me by your grace and give me a content heart. Let my ways please you always. I love you father. Amen.

How loving our God is 

WHAT SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS?

^{Genesis 24:15-21}

Abraham's servant saw a person who was good, not on the outside, but also on the inside.
We often judge people by how they look outside

1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

Rebekah's Actions:

Rebekah was a polite rather than rude-v.18
Helpful rather than unhelpful- v.19
kind, rather than unkind - v.18

Think About it:
 Think of one person you don't like. Also think of the way Jesus would treat than person if he were you. Write down two ways you can treat them the same way in which Jesus treats you.

 Titus 1:6

¹⁶ They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

  
Many Christians profess to be godly people, but their actions show otherwise. The old saying that actions speak louder than words is surely true!. As Christians we should surely PRACTICE WHAT WE PREACH.

      

HOW DO I KNOW ????

I have heard a lot about God's will, but how will i know which is God's will for me?

Are you sailing in this kind of boat? 


Then think about Abraham's servant, how did he find out which one was God's will for his master's son.(Genesis 24:1-9)

So just by praying to God can i know his will for me? yes, but check out this verse too

Colossians 3:23,24

²³ Work at everything you do with all your heart. Work as if you were working for the Lord, not for human masters. ²⁴ Work because you know that you will finally receive as a reward what the Lord wants you to have. You are serving the Lord Christ.

 Ask Jesus to help you have the same attitude to people who master over you. It may be your Parents, teachers or boss or anyone you can relate to in your life. Put on your best in everything, when you are done, check if the outcome is your best, work till you get satisfied. Do not let laziness creep under your bed.

BLAST OFF!!

What Happened?

 

The rocket was set to launch off. The countdown began. In the last few seconds, someone did not obey instructions correctly and the launch had to be called off.

When you look for close friends or for a life partner, follow closely the instructions Abraham gave when looking for a wife for Issac. Like Abraham's servant did we are to look from among those who know the true God. This was the instruction given to us

Genesis 24:1-9

24 By that time Abraham was very old. The Lord had blessed him in every way. 

 ² The best servant in his house was in charge of everything he had. Abraham said to him, “Put your hand under my thigh.  

³ The Lord is the God of heaven and the God of earth. I want you to make a promise with an oath in his name.“I’m living among the people of Canaan. But I want you to promise me that you won’t get a wife for my son from their daughters. 

⁴ Instead, promise me that you will go to my country and to my own relatives. Get a wife for my son Isaac from there.”

⁵ The servant asked him, “What if the woman doesn’t want to come back with me to this land? Then should I take your son back to the country you came from?”

⁶ “Make sure you don’t take my son back there,” Abraham said. ⁷ “The Lord, the God of heaven, took me away from my father’s family. He brought me out of my own land. And he made me a promise with an oath. He said, ‘I will give this land to your family after you.’ The Lord will send his angel ahead of you. So you will be able to get a wife for my son from there.

⁸ “The woman may not want to come back with you. If she doesn’t, you will be free from your oath. But don’t take my son back there.”

⁹ So the servant put his hand under Abraham’s thigh. He promised with an oath to do what his master wanted.

Now relate that rocket incident with God's word above.
 
Why should i choose like that?

 
Look at these two bulls. Until, they are under the same master's yoke, they will not pull in different directions

You are under the yoke of Jesus. Someone who isn't will always pull in a different direction.

A SAVIOUR!!

A lamb made the difference between life and death for Isaac (Genesis 22:1-16). He must have been happy to see it.

All of us have sinned in God's sight, and are all fit for punishment.
Bible says so,

Roman's 3:23

²³ Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God’s glory.

God gives us a lamb as a saviour. THE LAMB IS JESUS

John 1:29
²⁹ The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him. John said, “Look! The Lamb of God! He takes away the sin of the world!

Now aren't you happy about the new life he has given you? you are no more a sinner he has saved you from death, wake up and start living in real, for God loved you and he still loves you with his everlasting love. You are protected as long as you stay under his wings. 

Say a small prayer in your mind now expressing the way you feel about your saviour.

Think About It: 
How could you be so sure that he is your saviour and he will love you forever? That's when you need something called FAITH.
  

 Faith in the heart is like a bird in a cage. For faith to be faith, it must be set free through action.

  Bible says in,

James 2:20-24

²⁰ You foolish man! Do you want proof that faith without good works is useless? ²¹ Our father Abraham offered his son Isaac on the altar. Wasn’t he considered to be right with God because of what he did? ²² So you see that what he believed and what he did were working together. What he did made his faith complete.

²³ That is what Scripture means where it says, “Abraham believed God. God accepted Abraham because he believed. So his faith made him right with God.” (Genesis 15:6) And that’s not all. God called Abraham his friend. ²⁴ So you see that a person is made right with God by what he does. It doesn’t happen only because of what he believes.

Think of a time in the past when you have acted in faith. Look at another place where you need to do so in the future.
